Route from Edenbridge to East Grinstead

I like to lead the occasional ride from East Grinstead and it would be most convenient to be able to cycle there from Edenbridge.  I can officially confirm that all the roads leading from Edenbridge to East Grinstead are horrible.  Does anyone know a mostly off-road route between these two points?

    When you say off-road - do you mean down a bridleway or byway? These will be pretty muddy at the moment and slow going, but probably ok in the summer, but still slow going and can be difficult to navigate. There are several byway/bridleways that could be linked together to form a connecting route - marked in green long-dashes like this http://streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=543638&Y=143640&A=Y&Z=115

    But nothng like the Sussex border path that runs out of EG.

    Otherwise I would head west along the "C" road (yellow) to Lingfield http://streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=538923&Y=144735&A=Y&Z=120 then head south on one of the other C roads in yellow to East Grinstead.
