Adding link from Rides to Forum Rides

I think it would be useful to have a direct link from the Rides page (https://www.centrallondonctc.org.uk/rides) to the Forum Rides page (https://www.centrallondonctc.org.uk/forum/categories/rides-and-tours).

I used to only look at the Rides page and then turn up for a ride. Conveniently increasing information and communication would be useful, now that we need more planning.

So changing from this:

Our rides have of course been severely affected by COVID-19 restrictions.  In particular, with a limit of six people, pre-booking with the leader is essential. For other changes, please see our FAQ page.

to this:

with Forum being the link.

Or something similar.

We tried that during the lockdown, and it didn't really work.

I think that from now on it's better to stick with just listing rides on the Rides page (and associated Google Calendar entries and Facebook posts). Booking for rides seems to work well using email/SMS/WhatsApp, and any committee member can quickly update a ride entry (including indicating when a ride is fully booked, of course).

The worst of all worlds is inconsistency. We absolutely don't want the Rides page and a Forum post saying contradictory things about a ride, and if they're the same there's no point in the Forum entry.
  • Thanks to whoever added the link from the brief description on the Rides page to my forum post.

I think it can be useful for discussing details such as: lunch in a pub or sitting in a field, sharing a railcard, cycling out from central London or meeting outside the city and seeing pictures of non-tarmac sections.
